I have been thinking about how to describe Venice for a few days. Sure, I could describe the meandering canals, the never-ending carved stone bridges, the real and palpable atmosphere of romance, the great shopping, the breathtaking beauty of its vistas or the two millennia of historical, architectural and artistic impact on the world. But that would be missing what most makes Venice, well, Venice.

This is my little baby cousin and he is dressed as a smoke detector for Halloween. None of us know why but he is really obsessed with smoke detectors.
