Unlike some individuals in the class, I always read the works and took little notes in the margins. And it was this meticulousness that really gave me the upper edge in being able to discuss the topics brought up in class. Writing something down every few sentences allowed me to more or less memorize the plot sequences occurring in the stories, allowing me to then have a base for analysis when called on.
A deeper look at fairy tales. Not only are they a great study tool, but they helped me explore my understanding of the topics of the week and develop my own ideas.
Monday, May 7, 2012. I also learned about many of the deeper meanings of the fairytales I thought I was familiar with. We analyzed these fairytales from a variety of different viewpoints such as feminist religious social psychological etc. Through these different perspectives I learned that each fairy tale had completely different underlying themes and messages that I did no recognize as a child but have grown to appreciate now looking back at them.
