Well, funny you should ask that, because I am now a professional novelist coming out with my second in a couple of weeks and I wanted to share my first with you.

For those of you who are still breaking out the cardboard to model in three dimensions or limping along with Gimp, or 3d max give sketchup a try. You might find that designing scenery is fun again. I think I picked mine up at a grage sale for a couple of bucks, but whatever the price it has paid for itself in time saved on research. To an 1897 version available from Amazon. It might also be available for loan from your public library.
